Placement in French is determined using the highest course level completed, as documented on high school transcripts only. Middle school coursework does not apply. These courses are not open to native speakers of French. FRE 101 is for students with no prior French coursework. FRE 102 is for students who completed French I in high school or FRE 101 at UTampa. FRE 201 is for students who completed French II in high school or FRE 102 at UTampa. FRE 202 is for students who completed French III or French IV in high school or FRE 201 at UTampa. Students cannot take FRE 101, 102, 201, and 202 concurrently. See the course descriptions for the requirements of each course.

Review of French for students who have studied the language in high school for at least two years. Emphasis on accelerated grammar and on speaking. Listening comprehension, reading and writing are included.
