JPN - Japanese
Beginning Japanese with an emphasis on Japanese culture, as well as understanding and speaking Japanese in practical situations. Includes practice in reading and writing.
Placement in Japanese is determined using the highest course level completed, as documented on high school transcripts only. Middle school coursework does not apply. These courses are not open to native speakers of Japanese. JPN 101 is for students with no prior Japanese coursework. JPN 102 is for students who completed Japanese I in high school or JPN 101 at UTampa. JPN 201 is for students who completed Japanese II in high school or JPN 102 at UTampa. JPN 202 is for students who completed Japanese III or Japanese IV in high school or JPN 201 at UTampa. Students cannot take JPN 101, 102, 201, and 202 concurrently.
