4-3 Conduct of Business
(a.) Meetings of the Senate
a. The Senate shall meet at least three (3) times per academic year.
(b.) Business
a. The Chair in consultation with the chair elect, clerk, and committee chairs will develop the agenda for each faculty senate meeting.
(c.) Order of Business
a. The Order of Business shall be carried out in accordance with the operating procedures described in Senate Rules.
b. Except as otherwise provided, the Senate meetings shall be conducted in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order Revised.
(d.) Quorum
a. For meetings of the Senate, a quorum consists of sixty percent (60%) of the elected or appointed Senate members. This quorum definition remains in effect for all Senate meetings in that academic year.
(e.) Previous Notice
a. Written notice of the agenda for Senate meetings, including items of business, must be provided to each Senate member and faculty member at least ten (10) business days prior to the scheduled meeting.
b. Motions brought forth to the Senate must be provided to each Senate member and faculty member at least ten (10) business days prior to the Senate meeting.
(f.) Requirements for voting
a. Except as may be otherwise provided by these Bylaws, a simple majority of the Senate present shall be decisive.
b. In all cases, voting shall be by voice, show of hands, or electronic means, except where a motion for written ballot is passed.
c. Senators may request to have their vote entered by a proxy. Senators wishing to vote by proxy must notify the Clerk of their intent and who will be carrying their vote prior to the start of Senate meetings.
