AP9. Attire for Course and Comprehensive Practical Exams
Personal appearance and dress must be dictated
by health and cleanliness, safety of self and patients/clients, modesty, and
work-place norms/culture. These requirements may be waived or adapted for
religious or health reasons.
General
- Institute ID must be worn at all times, in
clear view, above the waist, with photo showing. Department issued name tags should also
be worn.
- Clothing and footwear must be clean, neat
in good repair and not wrinkled.
- Undergarments must be worn and must not be
seen outside outer clothing.
- There should be no gaps showing skin or
undergarments between shirt and pants when bending, stretching, or other
movements.
- For modesty, see-through, and low cut
(back or front) clothing may not be worn. Women should consider gaps at
the neckline when bending forward (no revealing cleavage).
- For cleanliness and health, loose, draping
clothing that may drag on a patient/client during treatment should be
avoided or tucked up (e.g., flowing sleeves, ties).
Skirts

For modesty, skirt
lengths may not be above the knee and slits in skirts should not exceed 3
inches. For safety, skirts may not be below the ankle.
Pants
-
Pants should be full
length. Jeans, cargo pants, sweat/athletic pants, and track pants are not
permitted. Scrubs are acceptable but must include both top and pants.
Shirts
-
Shirts may not have
writing or graphics other than small brand symbols.

Athletic-type
T-shirts are not permitted.
