PSY 218 Sensation & Perception
Sensation and Perception is an introduction to the scientific study of sensory systems and the higher-order cognitive processes involved in interpreting sensory information. The course covers the basic sensory processes of vision, hearing, touch, and the chemical senses, and examines how these sensory systems contribute to perceptual processing such as attention, motion perception, color, and depth perception. Emphasis is placed on understanding the physiological mechanisms underlying sensory experiences and how the brain integrates and interprets sensory input to translate sensory signals into functional perception and behavior.
