EDS 204 Foreign Lang Learning/Teaching
This course engages students with theories and practices of foreign language learning and teaching. Students will develop (1) an inter-disciplinary understanding of the role language (and culture) plays in human communication, (2) basic skills of facilitating foreign language learning, and (3) a better knowledge of the English language. These objectives will be achieved through reading, discussion, reflective writing, and hands-on activities, such as making and implementing lesson plans, writing class observation reports and teacher reflection, and evaluating and creating pedagogical course materials. The course enhances students’ understanding of foreign language teaching and learning and develops practical strategies for learning and teaching foreign languages toward more effective intercultural communication. (1 credit)
Pre-requisite: One year of foreign language instruction, or permission by instructor. There are no course fees. Students may only take this course once for credit.
