ARH 215 History of Printmaking

This course examines the origins of printmaking techniques in the West and explores the role of the printed images in social and political change from the Renaissance through the eighteenth century. Technological innovations are examined alongside the incorporation of printed images into daily life. Readings about the history of printmaking are paired with close observation of objects in the College Art Collection. Students will not only learn about the history of prints, but also how to identify them. Arts Perspective and Western History Perspective.
