21.3. Adequate Clinical Experiences
Students are expected to have a breadth and depth of experience in clinical clerkships that provide them with exposure to a range of patients and settings. While the Program is responsible for ensuring that students have clinical experiences that provide them access to the various required encounters, as adult learners it is incumbent upon the student to advocate for their learning needs in the clinical setting.
The PA Program will review student records and student evaluations of preceptor/sites at the end of each clerkship to ensure they are meeting program-defined learning outcomes (LOs). Each individual student’s exposure and acquisition of LOs is assessed after each clerkship throughout the clinical year and tracked using the clinical clerkship report card. Failure to acquire LOs with competence will result in an individualized plan for acquisition in future clerkships, simulations, or a remediation plan designed by the clinical team. Remediation may also include repeating a clerkship and/or may result in program completion delay.
